ABOUT THE ROLE


As the Travelling Support Officer for our Community Development Program (CDP) you will travel across Arnhem Land to support ALPA's 10 CDP Sites as required e.g.

to cover vacancies while we recruit, cover roles when employees go on annual leave and to give extra support to sites when its required.

This position doesn't have a home base. You will be travelling to different communities and essentially living out of your suitcase

To succeed in this role, you have to be flexible, adventurous and adaptable. You have to have a knack for building strong relationships with existing employees and community stakeholders.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide relief to Site Managers, Employment Consultants, Activity coordinators and Post Placement Support Officers.
  • Be a champion of the ALPA values and demonstrate a commitment to work health and safety.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working in a Community Development Program as an Employment Consultant, Activity Coordinator or Site Manager
  • Qualifications in Human/Social/Community Services or progress towards the same
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all education levels, language abilities and ethnic origin

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with Aboriginal people in a remote environment
  • Prior experience working in the Northern Territory
