About the organisation


The Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation (POWHF) was established in 2004 with the belief that in healthcare, tomorrow can always be better than today.

It was inspired by the pioneering work of doctors, nurses, researchers and supporting staff whose work was delivering real impact.

POWHF focus is on raising funds to support the vital work of the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick.

Now in its 20th year of operation, POWHF has transformed their original mission to reflect the direction of the ever-evolving healthcare space.

As a reflection of this the Board is now seeking to appoint a new CEO to provide strategic and operational leadership of the Foundation and be tasked with taking the POWHF to the next level of its evolution.


Key objectives of the role

  • Development and delivery of strategic objectives and business plan, the achievement of the budgeted results and management of the daytoday operations of POWHF.
  • Lead the staff and volunteers, who support the various activities of the POWHF.
  • Build a strong and effective relationship with the Prince of Wales Hospital, including the General Manager and clinicians.
  • Exercise leadership and executive stewardship of POWHF resources in a transparent, sustainable, and socially responsible manner.
  • Development of the fundraising strategy and annual plan in alignment with the strategic direction of the Prince of Wales Hospital, taking an active role in its execution including fundraising.

Knowledge, skills, and competencies

  • Previous experience of strategic planning, development, and implementation and working with a Board to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in developing and managing fundraising and/or entrepreneurial programs in the notforprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated success in a senior leadership role (ideally within a notforprofit organisation), practiced at leading teams to achieve results through continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of the healthcare system.
  • Experience in managing budgets and increasing revenue streams through partnerships.
  • Strong relationship capability and demonstrated interpersonal skills, which enables the ability to lead a diverse group of staff and volunteers and to effectively engage stakeholders and credibility with the Board and Clinicians and Senior hospital staff.
  • A sound knowledge of legislation, risk, and governance in a nonprofit organisation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (ideally)
