Mental Health Support Worker (Lived Experience) to join a leading Not for Profit.


POSITION OVERVIEW:


  • They work alongside a multidisciplinary team, engaging consumers actively and providing emotional support.
  • Peer Support Workers contribute to service delivery aspects such as intake interviews, service promotion, partnership work, and case reviews.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Engage consumers, building trusting relationships and providing support through outreach and centerbased activities.
  • Learn about consumers' interests, connections, and assist in building their capacity to be part of the community.
  • Provide emotional support by sharing lessons from personal lived experiences and promoting strengthbased, recoveryoriented models.
  • Participate in team activities, ensuring continuity of care and comprehensive service provision.
  • Cooperate with a multidisciplinary team, engage in reflective practice, and contribute to service evaluations.

THE PERSON:


  • Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Attributes_
  • Valid Australian Driver License and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Working with Children Check and Police Check.

_Lived experience of mental illness, mental health crisis, or caring for someone with mental illness

  • Experience in the public or private mental health system.
  • Computer literacy, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mental Health Qualification (Certificate IV level or above) or willing to obtain within 2 years.
