Our Client in the Hiring Service journey began in the late seventies and over the next four decades expanded from its humble beginnings in general hire, to become one of South Australia's largest independently owned hire companies.

Specialising in the hire and manufacture of portable buildings, toilets, temporary fencing, and much more, their Hiring Service provide services to residential, civil, commercial, industrial and event markets in South Australia.


About the Role


This a full-time, permanent role based at their Head Office in the Northern Suburbs and will include a variety of work at their manufacturing facility with modern offices.

As a Manufacturing Manager, you'll work among a team of specialist engineers to design, implement, and maintain Hire & Construction solutions to a wide range of clients through a range of services playing a vital role in providing a high standard of innovative, well-maintained portable buildings to Australia's civil, commercial and industrial markets.


You'll work side by side from a Manufacturing point of view with their Management, Operations, Procurement through to Production to deliver impeccable Construction Hire Solutions to their clients.


Duties

  • Drive growth and quality Manufacturing Management through effective use & coordination of trades, contractors & enhancing team collaboration.
  • Support the company's Values, Code of Conduct & Ethics, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Estimating including take off's etc
  • Maintain and review effective stock levels
  • Purchasing and checking of invoices
  • Displaying your building construction knowledge including Building Codes, Timber Building Codes, Australian standards etc
  • Generate Purchase orders
  • Sketch and update of BOM's
  • Present manufacturing topics to the sales team
  • Train / mentor staff
  • Oversee repeat work manufacture & at times repairs of existing units
  • Identify organisational needs and make suggestions and recommendations regarding Manufacturing Management
  • Making adjustments as required
  • Use at times of AutoCAD to draw layouts as required.
  • Supervise trades, for example carpenters and apprentices.
  • Actively contribute to WH&S functions in Manufacturing and the business as a whole
  • The ability to source materials as part of the Procurement process.
  • Prep standard drawings and markup layouts & collaboratively obtain Client approval.
  • Keeping track of time and accurate record on each customer project to assist in the betterment of estimations, quotations and formulating more precise billings.
  • Ensure all documentation is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support Sales, Operations & Logistics efforts with a collaborative approach from the Manufacturing department
  • Maintain an indepth knowledge of our products and service offerings and methodologies.
  • Participate and lead, when needed, in meetings with the team trades and contractors in manufacturing.
  • Participate in internal projects making sure that activities and tasks are actioned as required.
  • Review budget / time compared to forecast & actual.

Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have at least 4 years of experience in a similar role, involving:

  • Ability to work with Word, XL spreadsheets, Build soft & AutoCAD
  • Supervisors License
  • Construction Industry knowledge.
  • Preparation & updating of BOM's.
  • Strong Knowledge of WH&S functions throughout the Construction Industry
  • Knowledge of Timber Framing Code
  • Relevant Tertiary qualification
  • Solutions orientated and great negotiation skills.
  • Portable Building experience desirable but not essential
You will be able to demonstrate a solid Construction background with associated industry certifications an advantage.

Previous experience working within a Building Construction, Maufacturing and or Portable building environment providing quality service to a range of industries and stakeholders will be highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of the Timber Framing Code and other relevant Building / Construction standards
  • Innovative, selfdriven and the ability to work under broad direction and in a team environment on complex tasks.
  • The ability to build and maintain working relationships and work effectively within collaborative team environments.
