The Opportunity


TAFE NSW is looking for qualified, experienced individuals in Commercial Cookery and/or Asian Cookery to join our team as a Part time Casual Teacher.

You will share your industry knowledge and expertise with both students and peers. We currently have opportunities at Ryde, Northern Beaches, Loftus, Ultimo Campus' and Le Cordon Bleu at Ryde Campus.


About you


You will love this position if you like to share your passion in the Commercial Cookery industry and have a minimum of three (3) years industry experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, Chef de Cuisine, Head Chef or Executive Chef.

You are ready to educate a team of passionate students from a range of backgrounds to achieve their personal and work goals whilst developing and implementing an educational and career plan.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.


The role of the TAFE teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process.

The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

Additional Requirements

  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Certificate III in Asian Cookery or equivalent
  • The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or a Diploma or higherlevel qualification in adult education.
  • Three (3) years relevant postqualification industry experience within the last five (5) years at a supervisory level as Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, Chef de Cuisine, Head Chef or Executive Chef
  • Comprehensive current knowledge of the industry and job roles and strong understanding of current trends and diversity within the Tourism, Hospitality and Event sector.
  • Effective and flexible communication skills
