HIA has won a government tender to provide mentoring services under the Queensland Workforce Program for a period commencing April 2023 and concluding October 2024.


We are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated, and customer focused individual as a
Manager and Mentor (full-time,18 months fixed term) for this project.

This role will ensure delivery of the apprentice and employer mentoring services for building and construction industry participants under this program according to the agreed KPI's and program outcomes.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Prepare and execute a project plan in conjunction with key HIA managers;
  • Work closely with TAFE, RTOs and other organisations to attract apprentices and employers to participate in the program;
  • Manage, coach and support the Program Mentor;
  • Maintain a structured mentoring schedule;
  • Conduct mentoring interviews with apprentices and employers;
  • Ensure a streamlined and efficient enrolment process into the mentoring arrangement;
  • Assisting with the promotion of the Mentoring Program at Career Expos and other events;
  • Maintain mentoring records according to HIA standard procedures;
  • Providing reports to the Queensland government as required;
  • Work closely with HIA Apprentices (HIA GTO) to create efficiencies and to improve the experience for the HIA mentee; and
  • Work closely with HIA teams to create Digital content as required.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Strong personal work organisation, with a high degree of self-motivation;
  • Dedication towards achievement of key deliverables;
  • Experience in and ability to manage staff;
  • Willingness and ability to travel;
  • Current unrestricted driver's license;
  • Welldeveloped listening and communication skills;
  • Understanding of WHS principles;
  • Excellent time management skills, with capability to manage competing priorities;
  • Strong administrative skills, including experience in report writing, CRM databases, and Microsoft programs;
  • Knowledge of Apprenticeship system including experience in face to face student environments;
  • Experience in construction industry (highly desirable); and
  • Working with Vulnerable People check in line with State requirements, and National Police Check
    (essential to role)
