About the job


This role in Supply Chain will drive critical aspects of the Powering Progress Strategy, with a focus on Respecting Nature and Achieving Net Zero Emissions, building and strengthening Shell's internal and external engagements.

This role will help execute the Pan Australia Supply Chain Waste and Circularity strategy aligned with our end-users, in collaboration with our contractors, Shell, community, and business stakeholders.

The Waste and Circularity Advisor will implement the Supply Chain strategic roadmap and deliver reduction and abatement opportunities.


It will support the other MSC disciplines working across the Plan, Source, Deliver and Improve teams, with responsibility for all Environment improvement initiatives in Supply Chain Australia.

The Waste and Circularity Advisor will lead Goal Zero initiatives across Waste management providers in Shell Australia.


Where you fit in
Reporting to the Waste & Circularity Manager, the role will be part of the Logistics Delivery team.


The role will operate as an integral part of the MSC Deliver organisation supporting operations and will liaise heavily with other MSC groups (Plan, Source & Improve).

Functional support will be provided through a MSC discipline structure with resources and support being provided through the Shell MSC leadership network.


Key accountabilities

  • Acting as Contract Holder, effectively manage Shell Australia's Waste Management contracts.
  • Steer and influence Contract Management Teams that have waste management compoments within other contracts.
  • Implement strategies for Supply Chain that are aligned with Shell's Respecting Nature and Achieving Net Zero Emissions ambitions, supported by stakeholders to achieve positive environmental outcomes.
  • Support Shell's CO2 ambitions and target reductions for all 3 emission scopes.
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation a framework and metrics for how we identify supply chain opportunities to reduce waste, develop waste circularity opportunities and measure the impact CP can have and has had on these.
  • Influence our suppliers, through category and frontline teams, to improve waste management practices and compliance in Shell Australia.
  • Analyse waste issues to develop innovative and strategic solutions to achieve effective environmental outcomes and contribute to Shell's strategy as a credible, accountable, and transparent partner.
  • Working collaboratively in Supply Chain and endusers to deliver consistent waste management outcomes, ensuring consistent and effective approaches
  • Lead the Waste Strategy for Supply Chain in the development and implementation of its plan, to be in line with the broader Shell's Strategic Plan and relevant policies, including policy changes.
  • Participate in local forums and industry groups, representing Shell Australia.

As the Waste and Circularity Advisor, your main role involves communication and stakeholder management, as well as strong supplier external relations abilities.

  • Experienced Contract Holder
  • Track record of commercial or sustainable development delivery.
  • Knowledge and/or have worked on implementation new legislation requiring influencing multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement Practitioner (CIP) desirable.
  • Experience in implementing standards & procedures.
  • Strong contract management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple crossbusiness stakeholders and multiple agendas; i.e. Maintenance, Projects, CP, Logistics.
