Role Overview:

Join our team as an Automation Test Lead and be at the forefront of enhancing and maintaining critical applications that support identity, authentication, and authorisation frameworks. As a key member of our team, you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders and Government partners to develop and implement automation strategies aligned with project goals and organizational objectives.

Effective communication is essential in this role, as you will be tasked with conveying information across diverse media types and styles, tailored to the varied audiences within the Department. Your ability to adapt to the agency's operational methodologies and exhibit flexibility and agility in collaborative efforts and service delivery will be crucial to your success.

Job Responsibilities:

Automation Strategy Development: Develop and implement automation strategies aligned with project goals and organizational objectives. Identify opportunities for automation and define a roadmap for automation initiatives.
Client Consultation: Provide automation consulting services to clients, assess their automation needs, and recommend suitable automation solutions. Develop custom automation frameworks or strategies tailored to specific requirements.
Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, project sponsors, and senior management. Manage their expectations regarding automation deliverables, timelines, and outcomes.
Thought Leadership: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in automation testing. Share knowledge and insights with internal teams and external stakeholders through blogs, webinars, or presentations.
Develop and Maintain Test Automation Frameworks: Design and implement robust test automation frameworks to support various software testing needs, including functional, regression, API, and integration testing.
Test Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with the Test Manager and project stakeholders to define or update the test automation strategy. Identify suitable automation tools and technologies based on project objectives and departmental standards.
Test Script Development: Lead the creation of automated test scripts and test data preparation to ensure comprehensive test coverage and early defect detection. Review and optimize existing test scripts for efficiency and maintainability.
Tool Evaluation and Adoption: Evaluate, select, and implement automation testing tools and frameworks that best fit the organisation's needs and objectives. Consider factors such as cost, scalability, compatibility, and ease of integration with existing systems and workflows.
Test Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed test automation reports, including test coverage, test results, and defect analysis. Document test processes, methodologies, and best practices for future reference.
Mentorship and Training: Coach and mentor team members in test automation best practices. Create and implement training plans for staff to enhance their automation skills and capabilities.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in test automation. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

To be successful, you will have:

Over 6 years of experience as an Automation Test Lead
Contribute towards defining a Test Automation framework and the automation of manual testing tasks across all projects.
Apply sound technical understanding of relevant automated test tools and related technologies such as Selenium, Appium, Specflow, Protractor/Karma, and Cucumber.
Demonstrate practical programming experience using .Net (preferably C#), SQL, XML, and package management (e.g., nuget, npm etc.).
Experience with mobile test automation using Appium.
Implement and manage continuous automated testing integration using Microsoft tools such as Microsoft Test Manager, Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS), and Microsoft Unit testing framework for the automation of functional/system testing.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to tailor communication to respective audiences.
Ability to collaborate effectively within agile teams and contribute positively as a team player.
Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of independently resolving issues in a timely manner.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality with an enterprise-wide vision.
