Description

In this role, you will report to the Manager of Student Success and play a crucial part in enhancing student retention and success through innovative programs and initiatives.

Collaborating with the Schools of Engineering, Health Sciences, and Science; Computing and Engineering Technologies (STEM); or Schools of Business, Law, and Entrepreneurship; Design and Architecture; and Social Sciences, Media, Film, and Education (HASS), you will work closely with students, educators, and professional staff to identify and overcome barriers to student success.

As the Team Leader, you will co-design intervention strategies and implement initiatives to boost student learning outcomes.

You will lead a team of Learning and Academic Skills (LAS) Advisors and Student Success Advisors (SSA), integrating peer support into the student journey.

LAS Advisors will provide individual consultations, workshops, and resources to enhance students academic skills, while SSAs coach students to help them improve their study performance, identify and achieve educational goals, and acquire new strategies and attitudes that ensure academic success.

Your responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and improving retention and success activities, such as group programs and individual consultations.

You will also expand support services by collaborating with third-party providers and developing specialised programs for students with unique needs.

Additionally, you will provide guidance to educators and staff on creating inclusive learning environments and designing assessment tasks.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Extensive experience in the leadership and management of a specialist team with accountability to deliver high quality programs.
  • Substantial experience in tertiary/teaching including a record of coordination, teaching and group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality student engagement programs in a variety of learning modes which respond to a range of culturally, linguistically and socially diverse student and client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, collaborative and safe working environment, and effectively handle conflict.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and organisational change with high level analytical and problemsolving skills

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Teaching qualification required.
