The agency's business activities are managed to increase confidence in Government outlays and services by preventing, detecting and minimising fraud and customer debt.

Digital Forensic Investigation professionals lead the provision of the agency's digital forensic capability.

They source, analyse and make recommendations based on data recovered from digital devices as part of highly complex or sensitive investigations.

They provide forensic and technical intelligence services in close support to operations with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), its partners and other law enforcement agencies.

This support includes the identification, preservation, analysis and reporting of digital evidence as well as the development of enhanced capabilities to enable the AFP to handle such data into the future.


Assistant Directors Digital Forensics:

  • Support investigation teams within the agency by providing a digital forensics capability on search warrants. They examine all digital devices ranging from computers, laptops and printers to mobile devices including mobile phones and tablets.
  • Work closely with case officers and AFP agents to provide the best outcome on search warrants. They provide full post warrant support, including delivering witness statements and finding reports.
  • Work under the broad direction of the Director to deliver quality outcomes. They exercise a considerable degree of independence with decisionmaking substantially dependent on their highlevel judgment and consideration of wider agency implications. In performing a leadership role, they drive innovation and changes in workplace practices.
  • Provide expert advice, liaise with key stakeholders and represent the agency with credibility and professionalism.

Work Environment
The role will require a current driver's licence and frequent interstate travel.
