The Role
The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia.

The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.

We are new agency and are building the teams from the ground up.

To effectively support the agency to deliver on their outcomes, we are seeking individuals who thrive in a high paced environment, can work independently and as part of a team, and have great interpersonal skills.


As an EL 1 working within the Financial Compliance Directorate, you will strengthen your leadership and technical skills, and be provided the opportunity to influence decision-making through the provision of accurate, timely financial management and compliance analysis and advice.


About our Team
The Financial Compliance Directorate within the ASA Finance Branch is made up of two teams that support the ASA CFO with:

  • the development, implementation, management and monitoring of the organisations Financial and Compliance Frameworks
- preparation and delivery of accurate and timely, annual and monthly financial statements
- asset management and accounting, gifts and hospitality, grants, external service provider reporting, and ASA taxation obligations
- development of technical accounting position papers, general ledger risk and materiality assessments, and quality assurance process of all financial information
- preparation of Executive Papers and reports, including ASA Audit and Risk Committee
- delivery of financial education and training to the organisation on Financial Delegations, Accountable Authority Instructions and supporting process.
- the ability to develop, guide and lead a team to consistently deliver quality outcomes within strict deadlines and competing priorities
- the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

- significant experience in the:

- the successful planning, preparation and delivery of annual financial statement process, including the preparation of briefing material and reports or
- the successful development, planning, monitoring and management of an entities Financial and Compliance Framework, including the preparation of briefing material and reports
- an advanced understanding of relevant auditing, financial, legal and governance concepts and issues in the context of complex compliance and accounting matters
- demonstrated ability to develop and review written documentation, paying particular attention to accuracy and detail.
