CARDIOLOGY ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY/PACING FELLOW

12-month opportunity commencing February 2024

  • The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is a major tertiary and quaternary referral centre, apart from transplantation with particular strengths in electrophysiology and pacing, interventional Cardiology and adult congenital heart disease. The Department is affiliated with the large Cardiac Surgery Unit which has major interests in arterial grafting, offpump bypass, valve repair, aortic and adult congenital surgery.
  • The Cardiology Department includes the Coronary Care and Stepdown Unit, the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories, a Cardiology ward, a Cardiology Day ward, and the noninvasive and diagnostic service. The Department provides care to emergency and elective patients with heart disease including ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and valvular heart disease. Major areas of activity include interventional cardiology, the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia patients, and patients with adult congenital cardiac service and cardiac genetics.
  • The Department is a national and international leader in clinical care, teaching and research of cardiac arrhythmias, including complex atrial and ventricular ablations. It provides a full range of device implantations, including leadless pacemakers, His pacing and provides the statewide lead extraction service.

Formal Qualifications:


  • MBBS & FRACP in Cardiology: a higher degree (PhD or MD) is preferred.

  • Experience and expertise as a Cardiology registrar
  • Completion of a minimum of 3 years Core Cardiology Advanced Training
  • You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development.
