The Opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and driven Technical Officer to join the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

Based at the West Beach facility, this role is part of the Aquaculture Program in Aquatic and Livestock Sciences.


The role contributes to delivering the agency's priorities of supporting primary industries and regional communities to manage risk, respond and recover quickly from adverse events that impact economic growth and community wellbeing.


The primary purpose of the role is to provide technical services and assistance to the operation of the finfish and shellfish hatchery.

The role maintains both finfish and shellfish hatchery production systems which support the restock and recovery of Snapper stocks in Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf, the establishment of Native Oyster (Ostrea angasi) reefs along the coast of South Australia the development of POMS (Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome) resistant family lines of Pacific oysters, and the delivery of other finfish and shellfish projects, and where required other projects within the Aquaculture program.


The role contributes high quality technical services and expertise, works as an effective and supportive team member, applies a high level of accuracy in a high-pressure workplace, models commitment to quality aims and principles as well as accreditation standards, and ensures continuous improvement in all aspects of field and laboratory practice.

Special Conditions

Requirements:


  • Located at our West Beach facility
  • Possession of drivers licence and willing to drive
  • Out of hours work and inter/intrastate travel may be required
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies

Remuneration
TGO2 $74,128 - $78,700
