ECU is seeking a research strategy and policy manager with experience in the Australian higher education sector to provide strategic advice to support decision-making at the University and manage the implementation of a range of University-wide strategic projects and priorities on behalf of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).


To succeed in this role, you must have:
Experience in policy and/or strategy development within the higher education sector.


A thorough understanding of the higher education research environment and knowledge of the national and international drivers impacting university research to the able to make strategic recommendations to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Excellent analytical skills in order to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans and initiatives.

Strong project management and organisational skills to effectively coordinate and implement University-wide projects.

Outstanding written communication skills to craft submissions to government and other relevant external stakeholders.


Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders internal and external to the University, and build consensus.

An understanding of university governance would be an advantage.


You must also be able to demonstrate personal attributes consistent with the University's values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration
This ongoing, full-time position attracts an annual salary of $127,851 - $133,704pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution. Note that 3.5% pay increase is scheduled for July 2024.
