The role:

As the studio assistant for delicious. you will be in charge of keeping the delicious. studio running efficiently.

You'll be joining a team of passionate creatives and genuine lovers of all things food, eating, and cooking and be working directly with, and mentored by, Food Director Lucy Nunes, and Food Editor Tracey Pattison within the kitchen studio + be part of the magazines greater team located in our Surry Hills office.


Your tasks will include:


  • Managing weekly food orders and stocktaking of current supply/equipment levels to avoid over
- or incorrect ordering, including in-depth invoicing and expense tracking.

  • Cooking recipes from book extracts (preproofed, pretested recipes from publishers). Following stepbystep to confirm accuracy of written recipes.
  • As part of the food ordering process, identifying better and more efficient ways to manage and even reduce food budget, including comparing suppliers and building and developing new contacts in supply chains.
  • Assisting food stylists and photographers on shoot days, with equipment handling, packing and unpacking.
  • Liaising with Suddenly Studio, including confirming studio booking schedule and keeping and updating records of all onset employees and freelancers in attendance on operational day.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of studio and all equipment, to the highest hygiene standards, including washing up during and after shoot days.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • A current Australian driver's licence.
  • Proven experience in an industrial, commercial kitchen setting.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Good comprehension and ability to follow written recipes.
  • Comfortable with accounting and budgeting basics, including a good working knowledge of useful tools such as Excel.
  • Great organisational skills.
  • Proven experience in a fastpaced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
