The Centre for Automotive Safety Research (CASR) is a self funded research centre within the Sciences, Engineering and Technology Faculty.


CASR is focused on conducting multidisciplinary research in road safety and injury control aimed at reducing the human and economic losses of road crashes along with proposing and evaluating ways to prevent crashes and injuries and providing independent professional advice on road safety matters to government and non-government organizations in Australia and overseas.

We are seeking to appoint a research officer to join our at-scene in-depth crash investigation team.

You will be involved in travelling to the scene of crashes that occur within 100km of Adelaide and performing a thorough forensic investigation of the crash scene and vehicles.

You will also assist in crash reconstructions and simulations, and scene diagramming. Opportunities will also exist for involvement in CASR's wider research program.

Some shift work is required.


Term of position:
This fixed-term contract is available immediately until 30th of June 2025.


To be successful you will need:

  • Undergraduate qualifications, or equivalent experience, in engineering or a related discipline.
  • The ability to prioritise well in the highly dynamic environment of a live crash scene.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and/or sensitive matters.
  • Hold a current, full, driver's licence
