Reportable Incident Handling Officer will be part of a state-based team, with duties including, but not limited to the following:

  • Under direction, assist with the management of a caseload of incidents reported to the NDIS Commission by NDIS providers, including engaging with providers, where requested, on incidents, including deaths of people with disability
  • Monitor incoming incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing to ensure highrisk or complex incidents are escalated to be dealt with expeditiously, and escalate any delays or workflow obstacles to line managers and managers
  • Support the education and training function for NDIS providers in identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse and neglect of people with disability, and provide information about the NDIS Commission's reportable incidents handling function
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders to facilitate the work of the management of incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants, and the NDIS Commission more broadly
  • Actively participate in an environment where learning and information sharing is encouraged.

Skills needed

  • Previous experience in a reportable incidents environment, managing moderately complex incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants to a high standard
  • Ability to develop and maintain influential working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to the NDIS Commission
  • A welldeveloped understanding of processes designed to manage incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing of participants and achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills including a capacity to evaluate incidents affecting the safety and wellbeing and related issues and contribute to solutions, advice and capacity building
  • Ability to identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement to achieve quality outcomes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the capacity to produce detailed briefings and correspondence
  • Highly developed organisational skills including the capacity to manage competing demands and to meet deadlines
  • The ability, and the confidence, to make sound judgements and decisions based on thorough research, problemsolving, innovation and evidencebased practice, to achieve the objectives of the reportable incidents handling function, and the NDIS Commission more broadly.
