The Opportunity


We have an opportunity for a Research Officer (Food Science) to be part of our SARDI and Major Programs Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.


The primary purpose of the role is to support the South Australian food sectors by identifying and developing new products and technologies for foods and food ingredients and other plant products that meet consumer and market access requirements including health and wellbeing, safety, nutritional quality, and environmental sustainability attributes.


The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities including increasing productivity of our primary industries and agribusinesses, securing production through biosecurity, food safety standards and efficient and sustainable use of resources and enabling market access by working with primary industries to respond to evolving requirements of domestic and global markets and consumers.

The role contributes to delivering research programs in the areas of food technology and safety.

  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

Qualifications
-
Essential: A degree in food technology, food engineering, or equivalent.
-
Desirable: Knowledge in the area of food safety (especially the role of raw materials and processing of it). Demonstrating familiarity in sensory and consumer research practices.


Remuneration
PO1 $66,469 - $81,142 per annum
