    Description

    The role

    Partners Joel Von Thein and Nicholas Fletcher are seeking a talented Senior Associate to join their team based in Sydney. With a unique practice that spans commercial transactions as well as regulated infrastructure matters, Joel and Nick foster a team culture that is non-hierarchical, collegiate, and flexible. We are open to considering candidates available on a full-time or part-time (4 days) basis.

    In this role you will work on a diverse range of commercial transactions and regulatory matters for a mix of clients across rail, maritime ports, airports, telecommunications, and logistics industries. In addition to complex transactional work, the team supports clients on project delivery and contract management and advice issues and works closely with other practice groups within the Firm to meet these clients' needs.

    In relation to clients, you will play a key role during negotiations and drafting and be confident project managing matters through to completion. You will have the opportunity to gain quality experience including via client secondment opportunities when they arise.

    You will work collaboratively with a peer Senior Associate to supervise and mentor the junior lawyers in the team, making a positive contribution to their development as legal professionals.

    Skills & Experience

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • 1-4 years' experience as a Senior Associate in an Australian or International law firm;
    • a strong background in drafting complex commercial contracts and quality experience in a corporate M&A, front-end major projects or other commercial practice;
    • the ability to prioritise your time across a number of busy matters;
    • a passion for, and experience in, mentoring and supervising more junior lawyers;
    • a willingness and desire to commit to potential secondments to leading infrastructure clients;
    • a genuine commitment to client service and desire to engage in business development activities;
    • highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - required for building stakeholder relationships and maintaining a positive team environment; and
    • an ambitious and focused determination to take your career to the next level.
