About the role:


In this dynamic role you will work with a supportive and collaborative team, investigating and mitigating risk to ensure optimal performance of Queensland's operational networks and its customers.

You will be working closely with Powerlink's Control Room on management of network faults and incidents.

Here's how:


No two days will be the same, you'll be instrumental in providing rapid response incident management services for Powerlink's High Voltage Transmission, Communications and Operational Technology Networks throughout Queensland.


What you'll do:


  • Perform remote maintenance checks, fault rectification activities and operational changes to network plant and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED's) to ensure effective operation of plant and equipment.
  • Provide remote gathering data event and disturbance information, low level device information, substation control system data, plant specific monitoring data, from Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) for analysis to ensure correct operation, monitor trends or investigate issues.
  • Manage and support network incidents including identification, receipt of advice, analysis, risk assessment, prioritisation, management of response, rectification and investigation activities to ensure risks and exposure are effectively managed, and networks are restored in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Perform detailed incident investigation, agile risk assessment and management of network issues and incidents taking into consideration all necessary factors including but not limited to, safety, system security, financial and customer implications to ensure risks are mitigated to an acceptable level.
  • You could be required to travel throughout Queensland for short periods and will be part of a 24 hour on call standby roster, where at most you would be required to be on standby every second week.

What you'll bring:


  • Tertiary qualification(s) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (AQF Level
  • Advanced/ Associate Diploma)
  • Experience in high voltage plant and equipment (operation and maintenance) and operational technology networks
  • Demonstrated ability to working cooperatively and communicate effectively within a technical team environment
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of high voltage plant, secondary systems and communications equipment.

We'd also love you to have:

  • Skills in analysing data, perceiving connections and relationships, identifying critical issues, synthesising information and acquiring and comparing data
  • Demonstrated operational risk and incident management knowledge within an electricity transmission and operational technology network environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understating of SAP, EMS systems and other asset management tools.
