Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.

What you'll be doing
This position provides a challenging role with a combination of secretarial and administrative activities.

This position provides efficient and effective administrative support and secretarial duties to support staff specialists and other medical staff of medical departments across Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals.


The associated duties include providing secretarial support to the Head of Department and other Senior Medical Practitioners, diary management & meeting coordination for the department, payroll activities & processes, TESL oversight, bookings of conference, taking & typing meeting minutes, preparing presentations to support the department, correspondence, distribution of teaching material, and other general administrative duties as required.

Administrative support will also be provided as required to provide relief cover for planned leave of other medical secretaries. This can include providing support across campuses for Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital (BMDH).

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in providing secretarial and administrative support at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time management and advanced organisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff and the general public.
  • The ability to work with mínimal supervision as well as being an effective and efficient team member demonstrating initiative, judgement and analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft office, knowledge of medical terminology, drafting correspondence, minute taking and supporting meetings and committees.
  • Knowledge of the functions and services associated with working in a hospital or health environment.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn computer packages such as HPEC, VMoney and iPM.
