    Job description:
  • Strategy, Policy and Coordination provides strategic advice, supports and leads the delivery of key Tasmanian Government initiatives and is a central coordination and liaison service for the department. The Policy Officer will be required to work closely with all areas in the Strategy, Policy and Coordination division (which is comprised of Policy and Coordination, Strategic Projects, the Project Management Office, Urban Renewal and Development, and Antarctic Tasmania), as well as other areas in the Department and the Tasmanian State Service, to deliver quality services to the Tasmanian community.

Period of Appointment:

Appointment to the role is on a permanent basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).


Duties:


  • Support the central coordination work stream including monitoring correspondence, reporting, advice and support, ensuring that the department responds appropriately and in a timely and effective matter on all issues which require input from across multiple groups.
  • Undertake research, data collection, analysis, reporting against commitments and problem solving to support the development of advice in line with the priorities of the Department's breadth of work.
  • In conjunction with the broader team, plan, coordinate and deliver on small projects using appropriate project management tools and approaches to ensure milestones are achieved and outcomes delivered within time and resource constraints.
  • Prepare highlevel written material including advisories, correspondence, reports, proposals, minutes, briefs and communication plans in accordance with the agency's agreed standards of practice for government.
  • Liaise and foster productive working relationships with stakeholders to ensure that operational requirements and consultative objectives are achieved, and timeframes adhered to.
  • Coordinate a diverse range of responsibilities within a complex and dynamic environment, ensuring that work is completed on time and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely and effective business support for daytoday operational priorities.
