Your contribution


The Associate Unit Manager (AUM) assumes the responsibilities and authority of the Maternity Team Leader in their absence and as such, supports the Team Leader to provide day to day leadership and management of the team ensuring a positive and professional working environment.

The Associate Unit Manager (AUM) is a role model in delivering high quality care to women and their families within a multidisciplinary team environment and forms part of the Midwifery Management Team.

In collaboration, with the Management Team, the AUM will ensure that services provided by the Team are:

  • Focused to respect the rights, needs and expectations of the childbearing woman.
  • Integrated and consistent.
  • Evidencebased.
  • Supportive of a learning environment.
  • High quality care in accordance with the Women's Clinical Practice Guidelines, scope of practice and legislative requirements.

About you
To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and time manage in a challenging operational environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate junior and senior midwives
  • Relevant experience working within a medical team and being in charge
  • Relevant clinical experience with commitment to evidence based outcome
  • Experience in working effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement


Please be aware that in line with the Health Minister's Covid-19 Mandatory Vaccination Order, all workers at the Women's regardless of role, will be required to be fully vaccinated (3 doses) for COVID-19 or hold an acceptable medical exemption.


Influenza Vaccination Requirement


In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care.

Evidence of vaccination is required.


As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza.
