The Student Life directorate adopts a whole of institution, evidence-based approach to building a sense of belonging and ensure individual students' needs are met holistically across the student lifecycle.

These services will deliver a successful student experience that focuses on providing high quality services for retention, employability and personalised support for student success.


The Student Success team has a pivotal role in providing individual student and centrally coordinated programs to support students and school staff to improve student success.

These services are evidence and sector best practice based.

Collaboration across all University student service points is a major requirement, as is the implementation of a seamless student experience strategy alongside excellent customer service standards.

The Role

This position is a specialist student support role that provides personalised accommodation advice to all students and builds key external relationships with ECU's on campus accommodation providers and community organisations.

The role will provide advice and support for students living in private/rental accommodation and assist with tenancy difficulties.

In addition, the role will manage the ECU StudyStays website, promote ECU's on campus accommodation, develop and maintain relevant resources and disseminate current industry information for staff and students.


We are looking for someone who has a background and experience in housing support and case management for individuals, who is self-motivated and can easily work autonomously and as part of team on any given day.

You must be a problem-solver who can think outside the box with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and nurture long term relationships by being visible in the community for ECU Student Life.

Key Criteria

A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Social Work, Community Services) with subsequent experience OR an equivalent level of expert accommodation support service expertise gained from a combination of experience and training in managing complex housing support for individuals.

Demonstrated experience in accommodation case management of individuals, identifying their support needs and developing relevant action plans. Additionally, a work history incorporating the negotiation of tenancy and complex housing issues should also be evidenced.


Focusing on all aspects of customer service to achieve quality outcomes for all parties including internal and external customers at all levels.

Involves identifying customers' needs and values, managing customer relationships, marketing services to customers and continually evaluating and improving customer service.


The ability to investigate, identify and analyse key issues and the associated alternatives, benefits and costs to develop practical solutions.

Involves being creative and innovative when developing effective solutions and the ability to manage related risks.

Also, an understanding of when a decision needs to be escalated to others and working to try to identify and address potential problems before they arise.

Ability to work cooperatively with others to accomplish joint tasks and common objectives.

Involves building positive working relationships with others and avoiding "win-lose" confrontations and a focus on preserving and strengthening the ongoing relationship.

Building rapport and forming positive working relationships with all internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders/communities.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full-time ongoing position attracts remuneration of $85,551 to $92,301 per annum, plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
