The Position
In partnership with Verve Partners, the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle are recruiting their

General Manager of People & Culture Operations.

Reporting into the Executive Director People & Culture, we are seeking a trusted advisor to the Executive Directors and General Managers.

This position will design and implement robust enterprise risk management, and safety framework initiatives by partnering various stakeholders. The role will engage across all divisions to enable strategic support, coordination and execution of risk practices.


Key Accountabilities

  • Shape and translate Newcastle Anglican's Strategic Plan and People Strategy into key result areas for the P&C Operations Team in order to effectively deliver a partnering service.
  • Set the strategic direction and framework for all People and Culture activities and lead and inspire a high performing team of professionals.
  • Take a key leadership position for people related organisational change and business restructuring activities, managing organisational and people risk appropriately.
  • Manage organisational and people risk appropriately when making business related people decisions.
  • Design and lead initiatives to integrate the various people related systems and structures across our agencies.
  • Actively develop relationships and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on key people issues impacting the Diocese and its agencies.
  • Deliver comprehensive data insights and analytical reporting to assist in the measurement, identification and subsequent decisions related to people trends/risks/employee engagement to support our strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the management and facilitation of business partnering, employee relations, recruitment and payroll. Oversee the management of employee scheduling and the transition of the function into an operational team in the short term.
  • Assist senior leaders with staff performance management and addressing of disciplinary matters.
  • Lead the development and review of HR procedures and systems to create consistency within the P&C function and monitor adherence and compliance.
  • Lead the development of initiatives that will drive employee engagement and highly effective people leadership including an onboarding program and implementation of an HRIS.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources/ Organisational Development or commensurate experience complemented with a Senior HR Leadership role.
  • Be able to undertake a National Police Check.
  • Commercially astute HR professional with a proven track record of team leadership and operating as a trusted advisor providing expert advice across employee relations, industrial relations, recruitment, workforce planning, remuneration coordination, performance management and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in building a highperformance team culture with a cando attitude.
  • Energetic leadership ability to improve performance, drive and deliver challenging goals through leaders, teams and others resulting in strategic change.
  • Experience in delivering organisational wide projects and change initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent communication, motivational skills, complex influencing and persuasiveness strategies, ability to respect diversity of opinion, ability to deal with conflict resolution and ability to work with a diverse employee and stakeholder group.
  • Ability to develop and nurture strong stakeholder relationships, with a proven track record to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
