About the Position


Newington College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Academic Administration Assistant to support the work of the Centre for Critical Thinking and Ethics on casual basis.

The role is primarily based at the College's Stanmore Secondary campus and is expected to commence at a mutually convenient time.


The Academic Administration Assistant will play a pivotal role in the Centre's operations assisting with a diverse range of administrative tasks including event coordination, material preparation, stakeholder liaison, record maintenance, and ad-hoc requests from the Centre's Directors.

We are looking for an exceptional professional who excels in communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are crucial qualities for success in this role.

While a background in philosophy studies is highly advantageous and will greatly contribute to the role's effectiveness, it is not a mandatory requirement.

The Academic Admin Assistant is employed on casual basis during term-time only. A flexibility of working on events outside of ordinary hours may be required.


About You
- have held similar administrative positions, preferably within educational settings
- demonstrate experiences in event coordination and management
- demonstrate excellent communication skills with high regard to professionalism while liaising with staff, students, parents, and wider school community
- demonstrate excellent attention to details with high level of accuracy and exceptional organisational skills
- have proven ability to manage data and information with high regard to confidentiality and discretion
- database system (e.g., Synergetic)

  • Microsoft Office Suit (Excel, Words, etc.)
  • Communication systems (Outlook, School Intranet, etc)
- possess a proven ability to respond flexibly to resolve problems and proactively take initiative to address potential and ongoing issues.
- demonstrate commitment to be a member of a busy and unique school community
- have valid and current Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one
- understand and adhere to the College's Child Safeguarding policies and practices
- contribute to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington.
