The Chapter Area Lead Paid Media role will lead the Media & AdTech team which consists of 16 paid search and digital traders, while managing our external media agency to create a high functioning hybrid team.


You will have responsibility for:

  • Defining the media strategy and channel investment strategy
  • Defining the channel principles
  • Optimising media value
  • Defining future roadmap and media tech stack requirements

Your key responsibilities
Media

  • Strategic development of the groups media strategy and investment to deliver on the groups business objectives
  • Development of our channel strategy principles and ensuring that the group adheres to the principles
  • Responsible for the Group's media agency relationship; ensuring quality outputs and channel innovation that drive value across the CBA Marketing team
  • Manage key publisher relationships with EssenceMediaCom to ensure strong partnerships and access to first to market opportunities or ways to leverage our data for better campaign delivery
  • Responsible for tracking and optimising media investment levels across channels
  • Responsible for CommBank's digital media innovation roadmap and delivery
  • Ownership of the Group's overarching Search (CBA & Bankwest) and Digital strategy
  • Manage digital projects through internal Risk, Security, Compliance, Procurement, Enterprise Services, Marketing and Digital Channels stakeholders
  • Responsible for capability uplift in media across Marketing
  • Responsible to lead and inspire a team of internal media planner and buyers and clearly articulate the vision and their contribution so the team is motivated to achieve tactical and strategic business objectives
  • Identify productivity opportunities across the internal media team and external media team to drive efficiency
  • Responsible and accountable for the Operational Risk that could occur with our media agency and our inhouse media teams with campaign execution.
  • Development of endtoend process view of campaign execution and the delivery of controls to mitigate Risk
AdTech

  • Be part of the CBA Advertising Technology strategy team to ensure platforms are fit for purpose and enable the Media team to deliver on the Marketing strategy
  • Partner with Architecture to continuously examine CBA's adtech ecosystem to ensure it is future proofed to ensure strong delivery of business objectives
  • Strategic development of the media technology stack to meet the business objectives with continuous market review to ensure we have the right technology to deliver innovation and measurement across channels
  • Establishment of measurement framework to assess value, attribution and identify the right channel mix for delivery of a strategic objective
  • Indepth understanding of the AdTech landscape and the ability to keep the leadership team informed of key trends and updates
  • Analyse new media products and capabilities as they are released into the market and design an innovative and future focused media technology strategy. Work with internal technology and operations teams and key external technology partners to plan and execute the continuous improvement of the media tech stack in accordance with this strategy.
  • Understanding of how CBA customer data can be leveraged within media buying and the technology solutions required to drive better commercial outcomes.
  • Identify and implement the latest techniques in audience segmentation, targeting and suppression, and implement solutions delivering data and customer identity stitching.
  • Work with the internal customer profiling teams to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning capability into media campaign and customer targeting strategies.

Your experience and qualifications:


  • Minimum of 8 years' experience within Marketing/ Media or digital
  • Experience of 5 years + managing and leading high performing teams
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape
  • Ability to effectively manage & influence stakeholders and external partners
  • Evidence of strong project management skills including time management and demonstrate ability to influence and negotiate with senior colleagues to achieve the positive outcomes
  • Ability to use strategic planning and thinking to build and deliver advertising and marketing plans aligned to key target metrics
  • Have the presence and confidence to present recommendations and facilitate meeting with senior managers and be capable of influencing outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Proactive, positive attitude, selfstarter who takes ownership to drive toward an optimal outcome able to think outside the box and deliver pragmatic and creative business solutions
  • Deep understanding of AdTech platforms
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of customer targeting and suppression strategies
  • Understanding of media analytics that drive business results
  • Highly numerate with
