About The Role

We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our high performing HR Team


Ultimately, as our HR Business Partner, you will be able to act as a consultant on human resource management and organisational changes, operationally and strategically partnering with the business to execute the People roadmap and the wider Accent Group strategy.


Reporting into the Group Head of HR & Training, this role will be primarily responsible for supporting our Retail field operations team with day-to-day requirements, and the implementation of people, culture and wellbeing initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Provide daily coaching and guidance to the Retail team, offering proactive, best practice advice on employee relations issues and compliance. This includes but not limited to employment, performance management, absence, disciplinary, conduct investigations and grievance matters.
  • Ensuring the Retail team are kept well informed on issues which are appropriately escalated.
  • Analyse, monitor and create key people metrics and indicator to forecast any risks, identify trends and measure success to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance across all elements of the Retail environment measuring against the General Industry Retail Award and Fair Work Act. This may include leading any required changes made to current legislation.
  • Building and implementing policies, procedures and supporting documents to help refine and proactively upskill.
  • Help to create a consistent learning platform across all levels of the Retail business.
  • Leverage a deep business understanding to identify issues (process or people), diagnose root causes, provide insights, offer recommendations and develop proactive solutions to solve business challenges such as productivity, engagement, skill development, attraction and retention & recognition.
  • Support with greater People projects such as new system implementation, talent framework, onboarding, HR oneonone training or any other projects within the People strategy.
  • Create and implement streamlined compensation structure with retail brands to create consistent approach, manage annual merit reviews, out of cycle requests and set up career progression structure across the Company.
  • Provide coaching and advice on career development, recruitment practices, succession planning, compensation and performance management, diversity and inclusion and other human resource practices.
  • Support with employment contract generation, letter creation or any other adhoc HR letters required
  • Providing authentic leadership and direction to the Retail field and wider People teams.
  • Suggest new HR strategies and initiatives
To be successful you will have the following key skills & competencies:

  • Proven experience as a HR business partner, with thorough knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Demonstrated 5+ years' experience in HR and experience as in a People BP/Generalist position (ideally within the retail industry).
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and ability to advise on a broad range ER/IR issues in depth knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award.
  • Microsoft program experience with excel, power point, outlook
  • Exceptional communication, both verbal and written, and influencing skills to deliver outstanding results.
  • Excellent people management and relationship building skills. Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with a variety of key stake holders across all levels and locations of the business.
  • Enjoy being hands on in a high performing team.
  • Strong ability to multitask and navigate competing priorities.
  • You will a strong partner who can be assertive, readtheroom, tenacious but approachable.
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity at all times.
  • Analytical and goal oriented, with demonstrable experience with understanding HR metrics and trends.
