About the role


This is a full-time position providing high quality Intensive Family Preservation support to families through trauma-informed, child focused therapeutic casework.

This work supports the safety and well-being of the child, young person and their families to break the cycle of disadvantage.

SCHADS level 5.1


Duties

  • Provide effective, flexible, high quality intensive family preservation support to families
  • Provide comprehensive time framed case plans, case reviews and maintain timely and relevant case notes
  • Participate in 24hrs after hours oncall service
  • Work effectively within a child protection framework, understand, respond, and address safety and/or risk for children and families
  • Providing trauma informed and evidenced based practice to child and family interventions
  • Mandatory reporting as required under legislation
  • Knowledge of housing issues, domestic violence, child protection, child development and mental health
  • Demonstrated networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations and make sound decisions under pressure

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or similar degree. A relevant diploma with 3 years' experience will also be considered
  • Demonstrated casework experience working and engaging with children, young people, and their families
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with families, stakeholders and IFP team.
  • Have experience in child protection work and knowledge of the Child and Young Person (Care & Protection) Act 198
  • Demonstrated experience in effective case management with families utilising a strength based, trauma informed, person centred approach that builds client capacity
  • The ability to work therapeutically with a variety of client populations with complex issues
  • Experience in group work and parent education
  • Highly developed communication and time management skills

Mandatory Requirements

  • National Criminal History check
  • Working with Children's check
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
  • Access to an insured vehicle
  • Advise CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay in writing of any condition that may impact on the ability to perform the responsibilities required of this role, including any change in circumstances that may impact on your Mandatory Compliance checks as listed.
