We are currently seeking the services of a

General Manager to manage the team at Highpoint and have overall responsibility for running of one of the leading top 5 retail assets in Australia.


The Role


Highpoint Shopping Centre has over 450 specialty stores, onsite parking and a fresh food market, plus late night dining and entertainment options, exceeding $1.2 billion in annual sales and growing.


Reporting to the Regional General Manager, the General Manager at Highpoint will be a visionary, leading the centre team to meet the expectations of various stakeholders to deliver a first class retail experience in one of Australia's largest shopping centres.


The General Manager ensures that all asset team members and stakeholders deliver optimum customer visitation, growth in centre sales and therefore optimum investment return for GPT shareholders.


What you will be doing

  • Coaching and fostering the Centre Management Team to deliver the vision for Highpoint, establishing a culture of high performance with a strong focus on customer service and delivery to tenants whilst ensuring agreed revenue and profit targets are met.
  • Initiatating, establishing and maintaining relationships, both personally and through the team, with a broad range of stakeholders including retailers, customers, local authorities to ensure prompt issue resolution.
  • Maintaining ongoing relationships with major debtors and lead the retail and administration teams to deliver debtor targets and manage relevant team members in the preparation of recommendations and implementation of strategies to mitigate disputes.
  • Identifying appropriate and relevant Business, Communication and Marketing Plan strategies and objectives and manage the team to deliver against those.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders to prepare and successfully deliver the asset Business Plan in line with Asset Plan including meeting all income, expenditure and financial targets.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimise rental, minimise abatement, vacancy risks and secure income in order to deliver the agreed financial targets
  • Take responsibility for the for the 5 year financial forecast preparation and review for all income and expenditure and provide input into financial modelling assumptions including analysis of 5 year cash flows and sales forecasting.
  • Taking responsiblity for the safe operation of the centre including active participation in risk management committees, crisis management and emergency management

What makes you stand out


To be successful in this role, you will be tertiary qualified with a current Real Estate Licence and strong knowledge of Retail Leases Act, Trade Practices Act, Majors leases and a proven track record as a Centre Manager delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth within large shopping centres or retail assets.


You will need solid and practical leadership, mentoring and direction setting skills, with the ability to develop and lead a high performing team, as well as, outstanding interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Given the financial responsibility of this position, a high level of financial aptitude and commercial acumen coupled with the ability to manage long term sales and profit growth, are essential.


You will need the ability to review activities and actions and demonstrate value add to business and be able to identify key priorities and develop timelines/critical paths to ensure that tasks are managed on time and within budget.


This role would suit a seasoned, proactive GM/Senior Centre Manager who is relationship orientated, has advanced stakeholder management skills and is customer experience focused, who thrives on achieving outstanding results and wants to lead Highpoint to becoming the best Shopping Centre in the country.
