Where your story begins


The newly established and growing Research and Product Development Team are looking to appoint a new Laboratory Technician in their Ballarat Laboratory.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working for a leading Australian Manufacturing Company with a reputation for innovation and quality.


Part of your responsibilities include:

  • Operating within a quality system for the Technology Centre's testing activities that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, as required for NATA accreditation.
  • Performing mechanical and some chemical tests as required by nominated AS/NZS (Australian-New Zealand), ISO (International), JIS (Japanese), NEMA (American) and EN (European) Standards on all products manufactured or purchased by Laminex
  • Performing testing and reporting within the CARB Formaldehyde program
  • Planning tests and/or calibrations and evaluation of results self driven.
  • Ensure all test procedures are carried out as per the safe work instructions.
  • Collection and documentation of product samples.
  • Standardised formal reporting of product fault claims investigation and validation testing
  • Carves the time out to focus on wellbeing to drive high performance
  • Takes the initiative to grow and develop skills and knowledge in the flow of everyday work
  • Hands on measuring, testing, equipment set up and preparation of wood and like materials as test samples (training will be provided).

The role you will play
You are a self-motivated, curious individual who can work well with others in small groups. This role requires you to be systematic and attentive to detail, whilst being flexible to take on new challenges.


You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science or Engineering with Chemistry or Materials disciplines
  • Knowledge of laboratory systems and process control activities critical to maintaining NATA accreditation
  • Ability to report & present data to suit all audience types
  • Use of MS Office products
  • Proven data analysis capability to provide meaningful insights
  • 12 years' experience in similar roles with a manufacturing and operations focus (not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
