The network extends 1,700 kilometres from Cairns to the New South Wales border and comprises 15,345 circuit km of transmission lines and 147 substations.

About the role:

Reporting to the General Manager Network Operations, Powerlink is looking to source a Manager Power Systems Operations to lead, manage and develop the Power Systems Operations team.

This is a pivotal role heading up the team responsible for delivering specialist power services operational support to internal and external clients and delivering 24/7 monitoring / operations of the Powerlink Transmission Network.

The role requires a combination of technical knowledge alongside leadership and change management skills to drive improvements to technology and process in a fluid environment, with a business undergoing significant organisational change and growth.


You should have the following background / attributes:

  • Engineering qualified (preference being within an electrical discipline)
  • A proven background / understanding within the energy industry
  • Previous experience working within transmission, distribution or generation
  • High level of understanding within HV Operational Networks
  • An ability to lead and drive realtime operational network support to deliver continuous transmission and effective plant monitoring
  • Able to provide expertise around the development and improvement of SAHVEA
  • Extensive leadership experience and a drive for continuous improvement
  • Previous experience within a control centre operational environment
  • Confident in your understanding of related legislation and process

This role will see you interact with a highly broad stakeholder group and large team, the position has high visibility within Powerlink and beyond so you will be a focal point for the effective delivery of Power Systems Operations.


This role will suit an experienced Energy leader who is energised to work within a business experiencing a paradigm shift in the organisation.

A Bachelor or Post Graduate degree in an appropriate business related discipline is essential.
