About the role:

The Procurement services team is looking for an experienced Purchasing Advisor to provide comprehensive procurement services to the Corporation.

This includes strategic sourcing, purchasing, and expediting of a broad range of goods and services (predominantly goods) to agreed standards and specifications.


What the role will involve:


  • Review and verify the adequacy of shopping carts received for the acquisition of goods and services to ensure that they are accurate
  • Review Robotic generated purchase orders ensuring information is accurate prior to releasing purchase orders.
  • Solicit bids for the acquisition of goods and services as required and prepare recommendations for approval.
  • Identify and establish preferred and prequalified suppliers.
  • Purchase goods and services as required to established standards and specifications, ensuring value for money principles are applied.
  • Actively negotiate product savings with suppliers and investigate process improvement opportunities.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to resolve matters relating to timely delivery of goods. and services.
  • Ensure that data entered into the Corporation's SRM eprocurement and SAP MM Systems is accurate, complete and reliable.
  • Provide hands on education and training to customers in the use of SRM eProcurement and SAP MM.

Key skills and experience:


  • Considerable Procurement experience in a large multidisciplined engineering focussed commercial organisation.
  • Considerable experience and demonstrated capability in supplier/contractor evaluation and product evaluation specifically with goods procurement.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise effort, effectively lead and influence.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders and develop strong working relationships within the corporation.
