About the role


A key member of our New Bridgewater Bridge project, the Supervisor-Civil will oversee the monitoring of the performance of the plant, direct labour, and subcontractors to ensure production targets are achieved and ensure that planning, safety, environmental and quality requirements are met.

The Civil supervisor role is a detailed earthworks scope with complex traffic staging with a particular focus on Civil finishing activities that include stormwater, pavements, asphalt, and barriers.


  • Based in Hobart, Tasmania, this role offers an opportunity for you to enjoy coming to work This is a handson role that requires you to have solid attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective supervision of direct and subcontractor resources onsite
  • Daily planning and infield leadership
  • Promote total job safety and environmental awareness to employees, subcontractors, and all persons engaged in the project.
  • Take ownership that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented in consultation with relevant employees.
  • Monitor and review the performance of plant, labour, and subcontractors to ensure production targets are met or bettered and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Promptly advise the Superintendent of any issues that could result in variations to the contract and ensure effective record keeping.
  • Organise, coordinate, and direct construction activities in accordance with construction schedules so as to complete the works on time and within budget whilst constantly ensuring that planning, safety, environmental, and quality requirements are met.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes, and standards, which form part of the contract.

About you

  • Ideally you will have a minimum of five years' experience relevant to large and complex Civil Infrastructure projects and having previously held a position of Supervisor, Foreman, or Leading Hand in Tier 1 or Tier 2 company.
  • Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
  • Strong and proven ability to lead, direct, and manage groups of diverse employees.
  • Positive and gogetter attitude, accompanied by good oral and written communication skills.
