Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager


This newly created position will provide leadership and strategic direction for the management of volunteer services and community engagement opportunities across Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT).

The Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager will develop, implement, and embed a comprehensive Volunteer and Community Engagement Strategy for SCC in line with our strategic goal, mission, and purpose, ensuring a focused approach to developing and growing our volunteer base and community engagement to support effective service delivery.

The role will provide leadership, support, and direction to all volunteer-involving activities/services and for the delivery of a Volunteer Strategy - to grow, scale and sustain our volunteer programs in new and existing locations.

The creation and management of a cohesive volunteer program provides a consistent framework for volunteer management in line with Australian Volunteer National Standards and practices that align with the new Aged Care Act & Standards.

Volunteer & Community Engagement Expertise: Proven leadership capabilities and experienced in building and growing volunteer programs and community engagement initiatives.

Effective Communication Skills: Highly developed influencing, relationship building and customer service skills.

Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Proven capability in analysing complex challenges, identifying potential issues, and swiftly implementing effective solutions to mitigate risks associated with initiatives.

Collaborative Leadership: Adept at fostering a collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration to ensure the successful adoption of volunteer based initiatives across the organisation.

Adaptability and Resilience: Demonstrated resilience in the face of challenges, with a flexible approach to managing and adapting to evolving circumstances throughout various change management processes.

Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in project management methodologies, with a track record of successfully overseeing projects and ensuring the timely delivery of key milestones within the volunteering space.

Qualifications: Diploma and/or bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as health, gerontology, volunteer management, human or health management.

Previous experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in driving transformative volunteer management initiatives and programs; Highly developed influencing, relationship building and customer service skills; Proven leadership capabilities and experienced in managing teams and/or projects; Sound understanding of community engagement; Sound experience in designing and delivering volunteer education programs; Sound knowledge of Aged Care sector and vary needs of the client group; Experience in collaborating with diverse teams to promote innovation, leading to tangible improvements in service delivery and organisational efficiency; Prior engagement in designing and implementing change strategies aimed at improving customer experiences.
