We have a number of APS 5 level vacancies available, working across a range of ministerial, parliamentary, cabinet and executive support roles.

We can offer you a unique opportunity to work at the centre of the Defence enterprise and gain invaluable insights into Government and Defence decision-making and the day-to-day operations of ministerial offices.


We work closely with Ministers, their staff and the Defence Executive (our "Top 4") on a daily basis to drive the delivery of strategic priorities for Defence and the Government.


About our Team

The Ministerial, Cabinet and Parliamentary Branch:

  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective and timely Ministerial and Executive support and coordination services;
  • Facilitates the successful workflow of Ministerial products and Parliamentray items between the Department and Minister's Offices including briefings, submissions and Question Time Briefs;
  • Provides training and support to Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS) users across the Department;
  • Provides bespoke Executive support to the Top Four executives;
  • Engages with Parliamentary committees to coordinate the Department's involvement in inquiries and provides oversight of related items to ensure they meet the quality and timeliness standards of our Ministers, the Secretary and the Chief of the Defence Force;
  • Supports the Departments' appearance at Senate Estimates by compiling briefs, managing Questions on Notice and supporting witnesses at the hearings;
  • Is the central coordinating team for Defence Cabinet matters;
  • Provides portfolio support to Defence Portfolio Ministers and their staff; and
  • Delivers strategic planning and reporting to support provision of advice and the preparation of highlevel, high quality ministerial and parliamentary products across the Defence enterprise.
