We are looking for a
Project Operations Supervisor - Earthworks to supervise earthworks and deliver field logistics and operational support for exploration projects in the Pilbara region.


This a great opportunity for an experienced earthworks supervisor to play a vital role within the operations support team, working alongside a team of industry experts.


Reporting to the Regional Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Train and coach less experienced team members in operational and HSEC policies and practices.
  • Supervise earthworks contractors in the field establishing access tracks, drill site pads and rehabilitation works
  • Work with Project Managers and Ground Disturbance Approval Team to understand project requirements, and advise, plan and implement project support and logistics activities
  • Provide generalist support across a range of tasks and activities including remote camp establishment, contractor supervision and HSE processes
  • Supervise the work of contractors in the field to ensure adherence to HSEC requirements and project standards.
  • Lead by example, taking a handson approach in the field

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A background in remote earthworks, coordinating logistics and operational requirements
  • Leadership and behavioral qualities that align with Rio Tino's core values of Care, Courage Curiosity.
  • An aptitude to work in both field and office environments for extended and/or irregular periods of time
  • Ability to assess earthmoving project needs, coordinate logistics and operational support tasks and prioritise work to achieve project outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to solve operational problems, adapt to change quickly and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Field project coordinator experience
  • Mechanical aptitude, Supervision of Earthworks contractors experience, GPS knowledge
  • Proven ability to develop positive and productive team relationships with a wide range of people
  • Computer literacy, ArcGIS / MapInfo experience, HR, LF High Risk License
