Schedule: Position will be required to work various shifts between the hours of 5:00am and 00:30am Monday to Saturday, participation in weekend and public holiday rosters is also required


Hourly rate range:

$ $33.57 depending on experience (not including relevant penalty rates, allowances, loadings etc.)

    About the role
  • We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Operation of Haematology analysers
  • Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing
  • Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
  • Assisting with Stock Control
  • Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
  • Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
  • Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
  • Participating in training staff
  • Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
  • Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes

About you

  • To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
  • A Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Associate Degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within Haematology is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
  • Strong time management, interpersonal communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
