About the program - Wesley Community Housing


Our passionate and friendly community housing team provide homes for people and families on low to moderate incomes across NSW.


We partner with organisations and tenants to:
- support successful tenancies
- contribute to more connected and strengthened communities
- increase opportunities for tenants.


About the role
We are looking to employ 2 x Engagement Support Officers with an empathetic, solution focused and positive approach.

This fast paced and varied role will see you supporting the Community Engagement Lead to identify opportunities for programs and projects and to deliver initiatives that will support tenants to achieve social outcomes and maximise their life choices.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of activities that support tenants to feel more connected to their community and Wesley Community Housing.

This role reports to the Community Engagement Lead, Wesley Community Housing.


Key responsibilities include:

- supporting the Community Engagement Lead and Operations Manager as required
- supporting the Tenancy Officers with complex tenant support issues
- tracking performance against KPIs
- ensuring the Housing Management System is accurate and up to date

  • SMS messaging for engagement activities
  • 6 week check in surveys of tenants
- providing back up coverage and support for other team roles as advised by Supervisor.


Essential criteria
- demonstrated experience in supporting vulnerable community members
- experience working in social housing or related sectors
- very strong interpersonal skills, particularly tactfulness, assertiveness, diplomacy, mediation and negotiation
- demonstrated experience in listening and responding to vulnerable community members with the ability to build trust and respond to their needs in line with organisation policies and procedures
- self-direction including initiative and the ability to prioritise activities
- demonstrated experience in analysis and problem solving
- exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and follow through
- well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across a variety of mediums to people to all levels, including management, staff, tenants and other stakeholders
- ability to work unsupervised as well as an effective team player with a positive can-do attitude, in a fast paced and changing environment, having the ability to be flexible in response to this
- demonstrated experience developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships
- experience being accountable for outcomes and targets to internal and external stakeholders
- satisfactory National Criminal History Check clearance
- current unrestricted drivers' licence and access to a motor vehicle to use for work (kilometre reimbursement will be paid)

  • Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Desirable skills/knowledge
- demonstrated knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 2010
- demonstrated experience in case work, support worker or from the caring profession e.g. community services, community housing or community engagement
- experience working in tenant management or engagement/ community development roles
- experience in community consultation, networking or relationship building
- not for profit or cause related experience
- tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.


Remuneration


Salary and conditions of employment are based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 with generous salary packaging opportunities.

Kilometre reimbursement in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award will be paid for kilometres travelled for work.
