About the Role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Library Teacher (Learning Commons Teacher) to join our vibrant and comprehensive team at St Mary MacKillop College.


The Library Teacher (Learning Commons Teacher) works in collaboration with the Learning Commons Coordinator, Teacher Librarian, Faculty Coordinators and teachers to achieve learning outcomes and the aims of the Learning Commons at St Mary MacKillop College.

The Library Teacher (Learning Commons Teacher) will have knowledge of teaching and learning in a variety of faculty areas.

They will work in collaboration with the Learning Commons Coordinator and Teacher Librarian to promote physical and digital resources, literacy and numeracy initiatives, media and information literacy, inquiry-based learning, technology integration, and digital citizenship and ethical behaviours.

They will promote and support technology-rich resources and inquiry-based learning programs for students.

The Library Teacher (Learning Commons Teacher) will have an active role in creating programs that support student academic achievement and contribute to the development of lifelong learners.

The Library Teacher (Learning Commons Teacher) needs to be able to work as a flexible and responsive team member.


Essential Criteria

  • Promote stewardship of our Vision for a Catholic School in the Josephite tradition.
  • Be an outstanding teacher of experience and initiative who can work effectively with the curriculum team, colleagues, students and families.
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of contemporary issues and practices in teaching from Years 71
  • Contribute to the development of pedagogy and assessment practices across the curriculum.
  • As a classroom leader work effectively with colleagues and their Faculty Coordinator to develop a vision and profile of the College.
  • Support the College to build community with staff, students and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
