Support a significant maintenance contract to deliver Australian Defence Force Capability


Maintenance services provided by Joint Logistics Command play an important role in supporting Australian Defence Force units preparing for and returning from operations and exercises.

Our services will help ensure the availability and safe working order of Defence assets.


The contract includes repair and maintenance of some of Australia's newest and most advanced equipment including surveillance systems, marine craft, light armoured vehicles, and protected mobility vehicles.

It also includes operation of a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service.


Purpose of this role:


Manage the delivery of the national network requirements and performance reporting, ensuring overall business achieves the performance commitments of all contractual agreements.

This will be achieved via creation of a robust forward looking asset plan, encompassing short-, medium
- and long-term capabilities and milestones in line with commonwealth expectations of successful contract execution.


As a key interface between the Operational Excellence Manager, Continuous Improvement / Innovation Manager and Regional Managers - the Network Planning Manager will design the blueprint and associated systems to transition from a reactionary maintenance program to a high performing preventative / predictive maintenance program on elite defence assets.

You will also manage leaders of critical in-house functions that include.

  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management team that support the National Vehicle Recovery service and Australian industry capability Quality Assurance and security
  • Data Analytics & Performance team
  • Senior Regional Planners (7) (this is a dotted line relationship)

Key selection criteria

  • Minimum three years' experience in an asset maintenance environment
  • Highly skilled in data analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a develop a diverse team
  • An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in performance management and reporting.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated written communication and IT skills.
  • The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to a level of Baseline. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Ability to access and operate mandated Defence systems including MILIS (Military Integration Logistic Information System).
  • Experience within Defence sector
  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering

Primary Accountabilities

  • Monitor and report service delivery performance against client forecast to ensure overall business achieves the performance commitments of all contractual agreements.
  • Develop a robust maintenance program that optimises Defence capability
  • Coordinate and manage, deliver, and maintain the Technical Services Network
  • Network level advice to support HQSCB and CASG
  • Plan and meet surge requirements while supporting BAU continuation across the national network
  • Interface with client to ensure engagement, alignment of approach and problem resolution.
  • Monitor the DMC network to identify opportunities and recommendations for optimisation and/or risk mitigation
  • Support the National Vehicle Recovery team within the Ventia Helpdesk
  • Interface across Ventia's peer network for the Defence contracts to ensure local connectivity, alignment of approach and service synergies across the contracts with an aim to maximise client and customer experience.
