About the business
South Lake Dolphins Swimming Club Inc (SLD) is a year round competitive swimming club established in 1992.

Located in the southern suburb of Cockburn, our squads train at state of the art facilities at Cockburn ARC including access to both a 25m indoor pool and 50m outdoor pool.


SLD aims to be recognised as one of WA's elite swimming clubs, renowned for providing a safe, professional environment where individuals of all abilities are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

SLD has had a steady level of growth in our membership over the past 12 months and the club has recently experienced some amazing results with multiple medallists in both the Junior and Senior State Championships and 11 swimmers qualifying for Nationals in April 2023.


About the role

Salary Offer - $63,000 - $68,000


The Head Coach reports directly to the Committee and is responsible for coordinating and delivering the overall swimming program of SLD.

This includes the primary coaching role for the senior competition squads, preparing SLD swimmers to compete and be competitive and successful at State and National level competitions.

The Head Coach will be responsible for the management and development of the other coaches and work collaboratively with them in the planning and delivery of the programs for the SLD athlete pathway.


The Head Coach is responsible for building a pathway for SLD swimmers to progress through the SLD squads and levels of competition.

They will be expected to develop, review and drive the mid to long term strategic planning for SLD in conjunction with SLD Committee.

The Head Coach will be committed to the continued growth of the club and the success of our swimmers.

The Head Coach must be reliable and be able to work within a team demonstrating strong leadership.

The position also requires excellent communication skills to give instruction to swimmers of varying ages, liaise with and mentor other coaches and to provide feedback to swimmers, parents and the SLD Committee.

This is a permanent full time position with salary depending on qualifications and experience.

The successful applicant must be available to coach morning and afternoon sessions Monday to Friday and morning sessions on Saturday with attendance at meets on the weekend as required.

It is expected that the successful applicant will undertake ongoing professional development of their coaching skills.


Core Responsibilities:

Coordinating the swimming program of the South Lake Dolphin Swimming Club Train and coach SLD's senior squad, Gold Squad. Providing a holistic approach to training with an understanding of the physiological, psychological and emotional factors for swimmers. Train and coach the junior squads supporting their development and progression towards the SLD competition squads. Nurture and foster the love of swimming amongst our swimmers. Mentor junior and assistant coaches. Improve club results at a state and national level. Support regulating the conduct of all swimmers during training Assist with the introduction of a swimmer development program.


Including:
setting goals and objectives, provide feedback, review targets and achievements Willingness to work as part of a team working closely with the other coaches and the SLD Committee Proactively promote the club within the community and assist with growing the membership base Skills and experience


Essential


A willingness and capacity to embrace the vision of the South Lake Dolphin Swimming Club Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association (ASCTA) membership and Advanced/Silver Licence Accreditation Previous proven experience as a Senior Head Coach, Head Coach or Senior Coach within a competitive swimming club environment.

Experience in coaching National level athletes and attending National level competitions.

Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance Current Senior First Aid Qualification Must be able to demonstrate the following:


An ability to communicate effectively with all swimmers, club members, committee members and parents using the appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.

Leadership and motivational ability with an individual and team. Technical knowledge of swimming strokes and training for competitive and inclusive swimming. Excellent organisational and time management skills. A desire for self-development. Conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Sound and current knowledge of PlayByTheRules and Sports Integrity Australia National Integrity Framework. Ability to work as part of a team including strong mentoring skills.


Desirable
Tertiary qualifications in human movement, health science or sports management would be extremely desirable. Minimum level 1 Strength & Conditioning qualification. Experience in attending National and International meets


Salary:
$63, $68,000.00 per year
