About the role


The Activity Coordinator is responsible for delivering Community Development Program (CDP) activities to participants in one of the remote communities ALPA serves.

The purpose of the role is to develop and coordinate meaningful and engaging activities for CDP participants to improve quality of life and facilitate their mutual obligations.

Your practical skills in sewing, art and crafts, gardening, carpentry, construction etc.

paired with your people skills will allow you to work with and further develop the local team members, providing empowerment and upskilling opportunities.


_This position is based in a remote community in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory_

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with community members to ensure that CDP activities are valued, impactful and relevant.
  • Arrange all necessary equipment required for activity delivery.
  • Work with supervisors on job seeker attendance and address barriers to attendance
  • Promote new ideas, plans and concepts with the supervisors to ensure the continuous growth of the CDP activities
  • Regularly work on professional development with participants to develop skills in specific areas to overcome vocational and nonvocational barriers to employment
  • Support Site Manager to ensure site is always maintained to a high standard

Skills and Experience

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders creating positive ongoing partnerships
  • The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Selfstarter who thrives on the opportunity to achieve meaningful results

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the current CDP Contract
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people and living in a remote community
  • Trade background is highly regarded
