Ballarat's urban trees play an important role in the future liveability, resilience, and sustainability of our city.

Combined with the various community focused open spaces the management of the urban forest and open spaces unit is an important asset to the City of Ballarat.


The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time position within the Operations Unit.


The Coordinator Urban Forest and Open Space is responsible for management and maintenance of the City of Ballarat's unique urban forest whilst also playing a pivotal role in ensuring a high standard of presentation, effective risk management and community satisfaction is achieved within Council's open space reserves.

This position will have direct responsibility for Parks Maintenance, Sports Reserves, Arboriculture, and contract services.


About You

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Municipal open space management/ Arboriculture or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse experience in a related discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of modern horticultural and Arboriculture practices
  • Extensive experience in municipal Parks / Open Space Maintenance management
  • Capable of motivating and fostering a positive work environment where individual staff thrive
  • Enthusiastic by nature with team orientated values
  • Extensive project management skills including financial and budget management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
  • Focus on timely delivery of quality customer service outcomes
