About the Role


This unique, full time, permanent opportunity has become available through the identification of a need to provide a Disability Employment Officer (Personnel and Training Officer) who travels to all of our metropolitan and regional sites to cover the annual and personal leave of other Personnel and Training Officers in the organisation.

Initially the role will be based at our Panorama site, but there is flexibility to negotiate to be based at one of the Northern metropolitan sites.

At Bedford, we consider this role the 'HR team' for supported employees.

The focus of the role is to implement a person-centred approach, ensuring our supported employees are always at the centre of and involved in decision making relevant to them.

Supporting them to positively manage work-related challenges and achieve and exceed their workplace goals.


You will:

  • Utilise a case management approach to assist supported employees to identify strategies to achieve their workplace goals
  • Listen to the thoughts, goals, concerns, and aspirations of our supported employees
  • Assist in the navigation of daytoday challenges including incident management, behaviours of concern, and advocacy
  • Support people with disability with a personcentred approach
  • Complete individual training plans for supported employees at regular intervals
  • Complete accurate and detailed wage assessment documentation using the appropriate Fair Work Award instrument

About You

Other knowledge, skills and attributes include:

  • A qualification in Disability, Mental Health, Developmental Education, or Psychology
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (desired)
  • A solid understanding of the NDIS
  • Understanding of the complexities of intellectual disabilities
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong and effective communication skills


For this role the following documents must be provided prior to a formal offer of employment with Bedford Phoenix Incorporated.


  • An acceptable clearance to work in the disability sector (DHS / DCSI / NDIS)
  • A National Police Clearance (no older than six months)
  • Photo ID
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia
