Job Description:


As a Statutory and Regulatory Manager where you will provide key support to the Head of Financial Control and Finance Change and the General Manager of Financial Control.

The key responsibility of this role is to ensure the delivery of the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements, providing financial insights and support to business teams and delivering improvements through incremental change and formal project initiatives.

This is a 12-month contract role, working flexibility from our Sydney office.


In this role you will:

  • Ensure accurate preparation, completion and review of the Group's reporting requirements, including managing all relevant stakeholders throughout the process
  • Drive process simplification and optimisation
  • Identify root cause of issues, propose solutions and lead activities related to simplification opportunities and process improvements, influence related stakeholders and ensure effective implementation of changes
  • Prepare accounting papers and recommend reporting treatment for complex transactions
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the external auditor to constructively support their review of the Group's accounting policies
  • Manage and monitor the governance of financial reporting process
  • Manage the auditor timetable and provide timely and sufficient audit evidence and responses to their queries
  • Deliver the reporting for new & complex transactions; collaborate and partner with other finance teams (accounting, tax, actuarial, reinsurance) as well as other business units
  • Manage Finance projects as required to enhance the service to the business and other
  • Facilitate delivery of outcomes through own and other teams, as required
  • Provide oversight of work performed by more junior members in the team, provide ongoing coaching and training

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a related Statutory/Regulatory role, ideally within life insurance/financial services
  • CA / CPA professional membership
  • Experience in preparing Head office reporting, statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting to APRA and ASIC
  • Experience writing accounting policy papers and implementing changes in accounting standards
  • Experience redesigning processes and controls, process simplification and automation with ability to identify and manage risk in the reporting area
  • Ability to analyse and communicate financial information
  • Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, verbal and written communication
  • Proven experience in driving pieces of work, identifying requirements, issues and planning solutions
  • Excellent problemsolving ability, analytical skills and ability to deliver to tight timeframes
  • Ability to work autonomously and under broad direction
