If you have a passion for protecting and enhancing the natural environment and contributing towards making Shell a net-zero emissions company, this could be your chance to work within a diverse team to make lasting positive impact.

You will grow in a supportive global company powering the lives of millions.

Where you fit in

As we transition to cleaner forms of energy, the challenge facing the energy industry in the coming decades is considerable.

To access stranded gas reserves, Shell embarked on a first-of-a-kind FLNG concept, resulting in a complex offshore facility.

The Lead Prelude Environment Advisor position is vital in managing the associated environmental risks, preventing high-consequence events and maintaining Prelude's license to operate.

You are going to be a key part of our Shell Australia Prelude Asset Team, a team of professionals who are passionate about helping Shell safely deliver cleaner energy solutions.

As the Lead Environment Advisor Prelude, you will lead the implementation of the environment management system to prevent high-consequence events, environment non-compliance and maintaining Prelude's license to operate.

You are expected to manage specialist contracts and will have multiple internal and external stakeholder interfaces. This position reports to the Environment Manager West.

You must have a deep commitment to our values, code of conduct, Goal Zero and visibly demonstrate a simplification and delivery mindset, balancing immediate activities with longer-term direction setting.

You are expected to role model inclusive behaviours and create an environment where different views and perspectives are encouraged and valued - set clear expectations, motivate, build trust, provide feedback, support staff development and balancing life with work.

What's the role?

This role will conduct Prelude Environmental KPI Reporting (Environmental Non Compliance / Performance Trending), Frontline Assurance, Environmental Critical Equipment (ECE) compliance, maintenance deviation in SAP, and review the carbon regulatory and internal reporting.
  • Delivering Prelude's Environmental Approvals for Prelude FLNG and manage the interface with Crux tieins (e.g. EP 5yearly submission to NOPSEMA) as well as leading Environmental Plan (EP) change assessments and respective MOC risk assessments.
  • Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (OPEP) and Operational Scientific Management Plan (OSMP) preparedness focal for West.
  • Assisting compliance and Prelude EP ongoing operationalisation efforts by leading the upskilling of environment competencies within the asset. This includes implementation of various programs, systems and tools required to deliver efficient performance in partnership with the business (including contractors) via delivery of effective environment training.

What we need from you?
When it comes to nurturing collaborative stakeholder relations, your interpersonal and influencing people skills will make a difference. You will inspire people to make changes that will have a direct impact on our success.

Furthermore, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher qualification (desired) in a technical/environment related discipline (essential);
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality technical environmental work and positively impact environmental culture.
  • LNG operational experience and knowledge of industry process/environmental risks. Delivering current/best practice controls.
  • Offshore experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent external stakeholder liaison skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills and a willingness to proactively connect stakeholders across the business.
