Women's & Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.

We are the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA's largest maternity and obstetric service.


Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

The Opportunity


We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the SA Paediatric Training Network as
Paediatric Advanced Trainee / Registrar on a
long term contract until 31 January 2027.


As per the SMOEA 2023, the total of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.

Rotations following the initial 6 or 12 month allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements.

This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

As the Advanced Trainee/Registrar, you will contribute to the provision of high standard paediatric clinical services to South Australia. The Advanced Trainee/Registrar will demonstrate a commitment to clinical teaching and participate in associated research projects.

The Advanced Trainee/Registrar is expected to actively participate in clinical teaching and associated research projects.


Rotations will be available through General Paediatrics and Sub-Specialty Units, Neonatal Medicine, Rehabilitation, Paediatric Emergency, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Psychological Medicine across SA Paediatric Network sites.


The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Medicine and Paediatric Emergency at the Women's & Children's Hospital has a close working relationship with the MedSTAR Paediatric Retrieval Service, the single state-wide retrieval service in South Australia.

Trainees with an interest in critical care rotations by virtue of their training pathway may be considered for rotations across these services.


These positions are suitable for Advanced Trainees undertaking Speciality Training with Colleges such as; RACP, ACEM, CICM, General Practice and others as applicable.


About You
To be successful in this role, you will use your clinical skills appropriate for duties in the work unit.


You will have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.


You must have a minimum of 4 years satisfactory experience as an Intern/Resident Medical Officer/Registrar in a recognised teaching hospital and you should have satisfactorily completed Basic Training requirements of your College and be considered an Advanced Trainee as applicable.
