Career opportuntity for 2 Orthopaedic Lower Limb registrars to join MQ Health's 2024 program.

THE ROLE- Attractive salary package, relative to appointment level- Full-time, fixed term for 12 months, commencing Feb 2024- Macquarie University (North Ryde) location

The Role


MQ Health is seeking two [2] Non-Accredited Lower Limb Orthopaedic Registrars to provide clinical services to orthopaedic patients at MQ Health and to contribute to the development of MQ Health's Orthopaedic service.

These full-time positions will primarily have the opportunity to experience Orthopaedics in a private hospital and outpatient clinic environment.

About You

You will be an aspiring orthopaedist who is committed to clinical care, education and research. You will be keen to work in an innovative multidisciplinary environment and be passionate about providing patient-centred care.

You will have experience working within busy inpatient settings while balancing supervision, teaching and mentoring of junior staff and medical students.

Key Accountabilities include


_Not limited to_):

  • Provide clinical service within the scope of practice granted by the Advisory Committee and approved by the Board to patients of MUH and the Clinics.
  • Participate in and fulfil the duties and responsibilities as set out for the term of the registrar placement.
  • Provide a specialist liaison and consultation service to patients in conjunction with the clinical supervisor as required by other accredited practitioners who provide medical care at or in connection with MUH.
  • Perform ward rounds, independently or with others [such as junior medical staff and/or the admitting doctor and/or clinical supervisor[s], as required for inpatient care at MUH as far as possible within the normal working hours of the ward.
  • Comply with MUH and MQ Health policies and procedures and the MUH By-laws.
  • Participate in Discipline, Program, Hospital and MQ Health quality assurance and risk management projects.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical supervision, training and education in patient care environments.
  • Proven commitment to education and research.

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1-2 page cover letter:

  • Current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia [or ability to obtain
  • including English language requirements]
  • Successful completion of second postgraduate training year in an Australian healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in orthopaedics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of patients' perspectives and ability to communicate key information to patients and carers.
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude for one or more of the following activities: supervision of students; delivery of education activities; research.
  • A strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to clinical care and ability to work as part of a team.
