The Policy Officer is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Emergency Management Reform team in DEECA's Fire, Forests and Regions Group.

The team is responsible for developing a strategic roadmap to ensure DEECA can deliver on its emergency management responsibilities into the future.

As a Policy Officer, you will support the design and delivery of projects and advice to identify the capability, capacity and arrangements DEECA needs spanning mitigation, preparedness, response, relief and recovery across a range of hazards.


The position involves working across a range of projects in partnership with department stakeholders including designing and delivering stakeholder engagement workshops, developing briefings and policy advice, and recommending policy options to achieve DEECA's policy and planning objectives.

To be successful in the role, you will have strong policy and strategic planning skills, be a self-motivated and creative thinker who can identify opportunities for continuous improvement and have experience maintaining stakeholder relationships.


Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, business, emergency management, environmental management or similar is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
